Our Team.

Ruang Temuan is a main project of the cross-media graduation production by the third-year graduate students in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Media and Communication Studies program at New Era University College.

This cross-media graduation project aims to showcase the professional knowledge and skills that students have acquired over the past three years, creating a professional cross-media work as their graduation achievement.

In this era of diversified information and communication, the students will employ a cross-media communication approach, utilizing social media platforms and on-site exhibitions to host a social care event focused on the culture of the Temuan people.

This event adheres to the Department of Media Studies' core values of "fairness, objectivity, and critical thinking" and New Era University College’s educational philosophy of "originating from society, giving back to society."

The goal is to promote humanistic care and cultural preservation awareness, highlighting the social responsibility of media professionals. At the same time, the event provides students with a platform to present their cross-media works, allowing them to undergo public and industry scrutiny and evaluation.

This further embodies the department’s emphasis on humanistic care, critical reflection, and sustainable development.

Jom!
Let’s meet Temuan!

"Jom" is a Malay word meaning "come," and "Let’s Meet Temuan" expresses our enthusiasm in inviting everyone to explore the culture of the Temuan people together.

This slogan reflects our goal: to build a bridge for cultural exchange with the Temuan people, allowing more individuals to understand and engage with this rich cultural experience!

Event Theme

The Temuan People (Temuan), one of the indigenous Proto-Malay communities, are often referred to as the "Guardians of the Forest" due to their deep connection with the natural environment. For the Temuan, the forest is not only the foundation of their livelihood but also a vital pillar of their cultural and spiritual lives. However, with the rapid advancement of modernization and urbanization, this unique traditional culture and its language are gradually fading.

To preserve and pass on the traditions of the Temuan community, this exhibition is titled as "Ruang Temuan," symbolizing their hospitality and inclusiveness. We sincerely invite everyone to explore the world of the Temuan people, creating and exploring this space of diversity and harmony together.

Through the presentation of key rituals and festivals, the exhibition delves into the Temuan people's animistic beliefs, inclusive and welcoming wedding traditions, and their core values of harmonious coexistence with nature. It highlights the diversity and distinctive charm of the Temuan culture, inviting visitors to appreciate and support its preservation.

Purpose of the Event

This exhibition aims to deepen the connection between the public and indigenous communities, serving as a bridge for cross-cultural exchange while promoting the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage. By collectively safeguarding the invaluable traditions and wisdom of indigenous peoples, the exhibition places a special focus on significant ceremonies marking different stages of life. It seeks to comprehensively showcase the unique cultural charm and spiritual essence of these traditions, fostering greater understanding, respect, and appreciation for this precious cultural legacy.
